By Amanda Bell,
Upcoming film New Moon star Dakota Fanning has just been awarded the title for best leading young actress performance in a feature film for her role as Lily Owens in The Secret Life of Bees by the 30th Annual Young Artist Awards.
Fanning, who took the role as Jane in The Twilight Saga: New Moon, adds that award to a host of career accomplishments, despite the fact that she's only just turned fifteen on February 23rd. Winning such awards as the Saturn Award for best performance by a younger actor for her part in The War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise and the Kid's Choice Blimp Award for favorite female movie star for her part in Charlotte's Web, Fanning is no stranger to critic acclaim.
For The Secret Life of Bees, Dakota was also nominated as part of the best ensemble by the Black Reel Awards, for best young actress by the Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards, for best ensemble by the Hollywood Film Festival (which she won), an Image Award for outstanding actress in a motion picture, and the rising star award by the Palm Springs International Film Festival, amongst others.
At the Annual Young Artist Awards, too, was another Twilight star, Christian Serratos, who also took home a prestigious award (see here).
With the list of achievements ever-growing for this young star, it is no wonder that many Twilight fans are not concerned at all that she will take the role of Jane (a smaller part than that of co-stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner) with ease and will shine in New Moon.
