Hey Everyone,
Here are some interesting news regarding Lee Pace's new play The Normal Heart.
Thanks the Lee Pace Network For The Tip! Enjoy!
The Normal Heart is a play that talks about the adversities gay couples endured during the 80s, in a time when the AIDS crisis was still unidentifiable and often ignored altogether. Even in 2011 – 26 years after its off-Broadway debut – the play retains significance in a culture where equality doesn’t quite exist. Many couples in the United States are unable to wed their longtime partners, for example. In honor of its Broadway premiere, producer Daryl Roth announced a coalition between The Normal Heart and Freedom to Marry, a campaign fighting to gain marriage rights for same-sex couples nationwide.
As of today, a Facebook Rally has begun. If 10,000 people “Like” The Normal Heart on Facebook before the April 27th opening night, the play will donate $10,000 to Freedom to Marry. (Additionally, a percentage of the play’s weekly profits will also be donated to non-profit organizations, like The Actors Fund and Friends In Deed.)
A statement from the founder/president of Freedom to Marry, Evan Wolfson, is quoted below:

“We are honored to be partnering with the passionate team at The Normal Heart and appreciate their support of our efforts to win the freedom to marry nationwide. The Normal Heart portrays a couple struggling with love, commitment, and vulnerability in a life crisis and was one of the first plays to talk about the freedom to marry for gay couples. Stories like this enrich the public conversation about why marriage matters.”You can find The Normal Heart on Facebook HERE and on Twitter HERE
