Lionsgate Hints at More Twilight Films After Breaking Dawn

Lionsgate wrapped up their acquisition of Summit Entertainment at the close of business on Friday in a deal valued at $412.5 million. The combination of the two mini-majors brings the powerhouse young adult Twilight and The Hunger Games franchises under one roof.
Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer is bullish on the future of the Twilight franchise with Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, now that he has control over it, despite the final film, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1, opening in theaters this upcoming November. "I'm anticipating Breaking Dawn Part 2 being $700 million-plus in worldwide box office," he said.
Feltheimer also noted that it's hard to imagine a film that does over $700 million in box office business to not have ongoing value. When asked if the Twilight films could continue after Breaking Dawn, he answered "Boy I hope so."
Another potential place Twilight could materialize is on the small screen. "I would certainly hope so" was Feltheimer's response when asked whether a Twilight television series might be in the company's future.
In the meantime, Lionsgate will be focusing on earning as many dollars as possible with The Hunger Games starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. The first of four planned films based on the Suzanne Collins books is due in theaters on March 23.
