A few days ago, it was announced that Debra Zane - who had been hired to do Los Angeles-based casting for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn last summer – was chosen as the casting director for the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ epic The Hunger Games (directed by Gary Ross).
According to The Wall Street Journal, Lionsgate chose Zane to cast “the people you imagined [as the characters] but not the ones you expected.”
At this point, zero casting announcements have been made for The Hunger Games, and right now all any fan of the trilogy wants to hear is who’ll be bringing the most prominent characters in the series -Katniss, Peeta, and Gale – to the big screen.
Of course, there are a ton of other characters to think about as well. Some are more important than others, but the fact remains – even in book one’s dead tributes alone, there are almost two dozen. Some are named, like Thresh, Foxface, Rue, Clove, Cato, and Glimmer . . . and others are not. They’ll all be in the film.

With The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, the situation was very similar. All told, between the two big casting announcements (Denali and then other covens)for the films, twenty-two new vamps were cast for the various covens (not including Renesmee, her body doubles, or the supporting cast members). These new castmembers are taking on characters that are, in some instances, very undeveloped in the book Breaking Dawn, but as they say, “there are no small roles.”
