Chris Weitz must be loving life right about now. All he needs to do is check the box office receipts for The Twilight Saga: New Moon and a big smile must spread across his face. No doubt his latest mega hit has given him the power he could only have dreamt of back in 1999 when along with his brother he gave the world American Pie.

An IMDB rating of just 4.5 hasn’t stopped New Moon being the huge success it was destined to be. Forget the critics, forget the awards, I only care what millions of teenage girls think.

Or so it seemed before his next project was announced. Weitz has decided to go for a much more low-key project. A much more serious project to be exact and one that is certainly a bit more awards friendly. Could he be looking for a bit of credibility?

The Gardener is the story of a hard working immigrant who lives and works in L.A. The film follows his desperate attempt at protecting his son from a culture that is alien to him.
