Metric grateful for 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' scoring opportunity

Hey Everyone!!
Thanks to our great Affie Twilight Examiner for the tip.

via @TwiExaminer via @scenetoday

As you know, Metric is the band responsible for "Eclipse (All Yours)" from the official soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. The song itself appeared first on the final credits for the film, but the melody became a big part of the official score for the film (by Howard Shore).

You might recall that Shore chose to work with Metric for this endeavor.
According to the band's most recent interview with Scene Louisiana, this was a great honor for them because while they've appeared on other film and TV soundtracks - including Zomebieland, Grey's Anatomy, and even the recent Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World - this was their first time serving as a composer for a feature film. Here's what Emily Haines had to say:
"We wrote the theme song for the Twilight movie with Howard Shore, the composer . . . The end of the movie is our song, written with him. He came to us saying, ‘Will you write a song with me?’ We needed to write the theme that culminates at the end of the movie, and then throughout the whole movie, you can hear that he took our melody that we wrote, and he has the strings playing it like seven times. It was really nice to learn from him how the process works in composing. A very preliminary sort of glimpse, but that’s been exciting for me . . . It’s always flattering when people ask you to do songs in a soundtrack, but it’s wholly another level when they ask you to write the score. That’s definitely something we’re interested in doing more of."
Metric's first album came out in 2003, so they've definitely been doing this for a while. Isn't it nice to hear that Eclipse opened a new door for the group?

Music video for Cee Lo Green's 'What Part of Forever' from 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' OST revealed

Hi Eclipse Stars!!
examiner.com (EA) has this article about the Eclipse Soundtrack!
Enjoy :)
via @TwiExaminer

The music video for Cee Lo Green's "What Part of Forever" from the official motion picture soundtrack to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse has been unveiled.
"What Part of Forever" is a really popular part of the Eclipse soundtrack because it's incredibly catchy and lyrically appropriate for the story.
The music video for this song is a little different than most of the Twilight-related music videos we've seen (from METRIC, Muse, and Paramore, for instance), but it does seem to tie into the scenic themes of the Twilight Saga, as it shows Cee Lo walking through a nature area that resembles the meadow scene in The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
Also, the color choices and inclusion of forestry in the video (and general homage to nature) fit in with the Twilight film theme quite well.

The Dead Weather explains their involvement with 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' soundtrack

Good Evening!!
examiner.com (EA) has this article about The Dead Weather !!
Interesting...
via @TwiExaminer

For a while before the list of bands included on The Twilight Saga: Eclipse's official motion picture soundtrack were named, a lot of fans knew that The Dead Weather would at least be approached for inclusion - if for no other reason than that director David Slade had so openly praised the band on his Twitter account during filming.
So, when the news came down that The Dead Weather's "Rolling in on a Burning Tire" would become a part of the album, some weren't very surprised (though quite excited).
Still, the band has done few if any interviews about their involvement with the album, until now.

Chicagoist did an interview with the band recently where they revealed the way that they became a part of the album.
Alison Mosshart (lead singer) explained, "We were in the studio in Nashville at the time, recording Sea of Cowards. Rolling in on a Burning Tire was going to be the last track on the album; then we got asked to submit something to Twilight. It seemed like the right kind of track for it. We submitted it and they said they wanted it exclusively, so we recorded another track to take its place on the album."
The song ended up being a backing to a "Victoria and Riley" moment, and it did seem quite appropriate for that moment in the film.
After having seen the movie, though, she found that the song ended up being "chopped" and that "[i]t sounded like they used every bit of the song but spun it down into 10-seconds."
Still, Mosshart agrees that having the song on the Eclipse album does open up the opportunity to garner new fans. "I'm ok with tweens hearing our music. However they get to hear it," she explained.

'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' soundtrack song by Vampire Weekend revealed

New Song from Eclipse Soundtrack!!
examiner.com (EA) has this new song from the Eclipse Soundtrack!!
Yay!! Listen to it ;)
via @TwiExaminer

Vampire Weekend's The Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack contribution "Jonathan Low" has just been revealed by Stereogum.
The song, which runs at three minutes and twenty seconds, has a very upbeat and stringy feel to it, don't you think?
Entertainment Weekly described the song as a "pleasingly woolly tangle" and said the the band was "stripped of their habitual Afro-pop swaddling."
Do you agree?
Take a listen below and share your thoughts in the comments section! Also, be sure to share which scene(s) you think the song might be suited for in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse!
Given its peppy nature, it's probably going to fit in a sequence similar to the way that OK Go's "Shooting the Moon" did, right?

EW Reviews Eclipse Soundtrack & Gives it a B+

Hi Twilighters!!
twifans.com has this review of the Eclipse Soundtrack from EW !
Great!
via @TwiFans

At this point, even the most entrenched haters of Twilight's vampire-sparkle voodoo concede the soundtracks' indie-rock bona fides —
though they might wish the music came shrouded in a plain brown wrapper.
Like last October's New Moon collection, Eclipse operates as a sort of alt-party primer: original songs from the genre's current
varsity squad, with a smattering of JV newbies. Pomp-rockers Muse,
practically the movies' musical mascots by now, provide the requisite
dose of Queen-meets-Rush grandiosity on ''Neutron Star Collision (Love
Is Forever),'' while Jack White side project the Dead Weather revel in
swampy blooze-ooze on ''Rolling in on a Burning Tire.'' Vampire Weekend,
stripped of their habitual Afro-pop swaddling, work the
harpsichord-tinged twee of ''Jonathan Low'' into a pleasingly woolly
tangle, though Australian chanteuse Sia's ''My Love'' does more with
much less — her fragile ballad is so ethereal and otherworldly, it
should be sung in Elvish. U.K. indie-pop outfit Fanfarlo's rickety
''Atlas'' sounds like Talking Heads on a dirt-road detour; Beck and
British songstress Bat for Lashes trade haunting echo-chamber
vocals on
the percussion-heavy duet ''Let's Get Lost''; and on the heady ''Heavy
in Your Arms,'' Florence + the Machine make like Siouxsie Sioux leading a
tribal marching band into battle. L.A. unknowns Eastern Conference
Champions co-opt Radiohead's dense existential dread, Band of Horses
conjure up another beardy folk ramble, and this summer's palest citizens
get a pretty solid ready-made mixtape. B+
