Mostly young women line up early to get glimpse of film’s stars 

LOS ANGELES - "Twilight" fans have taken over the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles. 

Thousands of fans filled the streets near UCLA on Monday, hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite undead stars attending the evening premiere of "New Moon' — the second film in the "Twilight' vampire saga.

Some "Twi-hards" — as they call themselves — arrived as early as Thursday afternoon to secure a place in line for tickets allowing them to watch the stars' arrivals on the red carpet. The 800 available tickets were all distributed by Monday morning, but the line still stretched for blocks well after lunchtime.

Nicole Zamora, 36, was sixth in line after getting to Westwood on Thursday afternoon. She and her three sisters wore "New Moon" T-shirts they'd made for the occasion and said they spent the weekend "reading, listening to the iPod and trying to sleep — anything to pass the time."

Christina Fuentes and four of her friends traveled from New Jersey for the "New Moon" premiere. The 24-year-old wore vampire teeth ("They just clip on," she said) and carried a home-made sign that read, "We flew in from NJ! We've been camping out for three days just to see you!" She pasted her airline boarding pass to the poster as proof.

They were number 313 in line, she said.

The weekend warriors were rewarded with appearances by some "Twilight" stars.

"Less than an hour ago we saw Peter Facinelli drive by on his Harley, looking hot," said 19-year-old Kelley Metoyer, referring to the actor who plays the vampire patriarch in the series. Metoyer had camped out with six friends since Friday.

For those of you who hail in from Jupiter, The Twilight Saga: New Moon's premiere took place tonight in Westwood, California.

After fans waited for days, after the stars finally got themselves into one place (after whirlwind tours of, literally, the globe) to celebrate this film - inarguably one of the biggest of this year (and, with recent Fandango stats, all time).

The scene from the middle of the red carpet was, to say the least, very bright. One by one, the stars of The Twilight Saga: New Moon and their friends made their way onto a small stage to be introduced to the crowd (most of them at least) before being released onto the long-stretch red carpet for the whole world to see.

Since there was a live internet feed through MySpace, the world had access to attendants like Stephenie Meyer, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner made their way down the carpet.

While there were some surprise guests, like 50 Cent and Jamie Kennedy, most of the line-up included those cast on either The Twilight Saga: New Moon or The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and their affiliates (like Emilie de Ravin from Robert Pattinson's Remember Me and Joan Jett, who Kristen Stewart portrays in The Runaways).

Thousands of fans from as far away as New York filled the streets near the University of California-Los Angeles, hoping to catch a glimpse of their favourite Twilight stars attending the evening premiere of the latest film in the vampire series - New Moon. Some "twi-hards" - as they call themselves - arrived as early as Thursday afternoon to secure a place in line for tickets allowing them to watch the stars' arrivals on the red carpet. The 800 available tickets were all distributed by Monday morning. Some of the cheering fans - mostly young women - were wearing T-shirts proclaiming their allegiance to either Robert Pattinson or Taylor Lautner, the bloodsucking stars of New Moon. One woman held a homemade sign saying, "We love Robert and Taylor they rock our socks."

LOS ANGELES — A year ago at this time, people were finally comprehending the scope of "Twilight" mania. Rob and Kristen were treated like rock stars, thousands of fans were eager to share their "little secret" with the world, and a tiny Taylor Lautner enthusiastically posed with fans, simply hoping they'd want him back for more.

On Monday evening (November 16), "New Moon" mania took over at the film's red-carpet premiere. And like Taylor's presence in the sequel, it's bigger, better and far more muscular.

"It's amazing," marveled the 17-year-old Lautner, who was famously nearly replaced as Jacob Black last winter but packed on 30 pounds of muscle to keep the role. "We all know the premiere for 'Twilight' was insane, but this is multiplied by 10. I did not expect this at all!"

With thousands of Twilighters — many of whom began lining up last week — packing the sidewalks, the shrieks roared like airplanes buzzing the Los Angeles neighborhood of Westwood. Everyone from 50 Cent to Kevin Smith to Death Cab for Cutie and Emma Roberts came out to get an early glimpse at one of the year's most anticipated films. Also crowding the carpet was an epic cast now containing several dozen regulars when you factor in all the Cullens, Volturi, wolf pack, humans and other factions. But in the eyes of Kristen Stewart, the evening was really a celebration of the actor fans affectionately call "Taycob."
