Laurent: This vampire isn't like the Cullen gang—he loves feasting on blood. Later he returns to Victoria's side, begins spying on Bella and almost kills her.

Bellatrix Lestrange: Helena Bonham Carter completely losses herself in this sadistic witch. Bellatrix is Voldemort's most devoted follower and has no problem killing anyone who gets her master's way. She was sent to Azkaban after torturing Neville Longbottom's parents, but escapes and returns to Voldemort's side with a vengeance.

For actor Edi Gathegi, playing Darwin in the upcoming “X-Men: First Class” movie is like fulfilling a childhood dream. He’s been a fan of the franchise since he was a boy.
In an interview with the Italian website Comicus, he was happy to talk about his character and his love for all things “X-Men.”
“I was a major X-Men fan as a youth,” he revealed. “I'd wake up every Saturday morning with my bowl of cereal glued to the tv screen enjoying my favorite comic brought to life as a cartoon.”
He described his character for people less familiar with Darwin, talking about the mutant’s skill at "reactive adaptation."

Edi Gathegi to appear in ’24 Hour Hollywood Rush’ theater event in February

According to Access Hollywood, Edi Gathegi ("Laurent" in Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon) is on a lengthy list of castmembers for an upcoming theater event called "24 Hour Hollywood Rush," which is "the first all-night theater extravaganza event of its kind." It takes place from February 19th to the 20th.
According to 24HourHollywoodRush.org, the event description is as follows:

Forty of Hollywood’s most talented writers, directors and actors will come together to pull off a creative feat unlike anything they’ve ever attempted.
The work starts the evening before the show. A group of writers will have 12 hours to compose six 10-minute plays. At 8 a.m. on the morning of the event, the scripts will be handed off to an assembly of directors and actors who will then rehearse the material into the afternoon. After a technical rehearsal and red carpet arrivals, the show starts—only 24 hours after the process began.
. . . This fundraiser will benefit the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center’s Crystal Meth Recovery Services.

This sound very similar to the play Lee Pace ("Garrett" in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn) recently did called "24 Hour Play."

It's also not the first time we've heard of Edi Gathegi doing theater. In fact, right around a year ago, he did a Valentine's Day show in an L.A. theater.

By the way, the video below is a recent interview Access Hollywood did with Edi Gathegi at a Golden Globes gift lounge. In it, he talks a lot about his recent work in X-Men: First Class, which hits theaters on June 3rd. In the film, Gathegi portrays a mutant character called Darwin. Edi was on the judging panel for a talent show at Pechanga Resort & Casino .

According to the PR: “The talent was provided by a select few of the thousands of employees of the casino.
In all, 10 different entries were a part of the contest and show, hosted by musician/actor/comedian Chris “Kid” Reid, and they battled it out for the chance to win the $2,500 first prize.”

X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

 X-Men: First Class stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones, and Kevin Bacon and will be released June 3, 2011. The plot shows us younger versions of Professor X and Magneto as friends and still keeping their mutant abilities a secret from man.

'Twilight's' Edi Gathegi will adapt as Darwin in 'X-Men: First Class'

Many fans were disappointed 20th Century Fox didn't have any sort of presence for "X-Men: First Class" at Comic-Con this past weekend, but that is most likely because director Matthew Vaughn is hard at work putting the final touches on the cast for the mutant thriller.

Vaughn, best known for "Kick-Ass" and "Stardust," has already recruited James McAvoy (Prof. Charles Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Alice Eve (Emma Frost, aka The White Queen), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee), Lucas Till (Alec Summer, aka Havoc) and Kevin Bacon to play a still unrevealed villain. Now, Deadline reports scene stealing Edi Gathegi, who portrayed the evil vampire Laurent in "Twilight" and "New Moon," will bring the lesser known Darwin to the big screen.

A mutant with the ability to adapt to any environment, Darwin actually has the potential to be one of the more powerful X-Men. The character is actually a recent creation, first appearing in the "X-Men: Deadly Genesis" comic book mini-series just four years ago.

It's expected Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Jean Grey (Marvel Girl) will also appear in the picture, but Vaughn is running out of time to cast the roles. Production needs to start momentary for the picture to make its June 3, 2011 release date.
