There he becomes part of a colorful community of outcasts, also-rans and the overlooked all trying to find a better future for themselves… often moving around town in a herd of scooters. In his public-speaking class, Larry develops an unexpected crush on his teacher Mercedes Tainot, who has lost as much passion for teaching as she has for her husband.

Hi Everyone,

New interview with Rami Malak in Esquire Magazine. Thanks to Twilightish for the tip. Enjoy!

Via @Twilightish

You might remember him from: The Pacific, HBO’s World War II epic, as the glassy-eyed sociopath Snafu. You will definitely remember him from: This summer’s Larry Crowne, as a stoner college student opposite Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. (Hanks also wrote and directed.) And, if you’re so inclined, you can catch him as an Egyptian vampire in the final installment of the Twilight series. On those Twilight fans: “My brother was like, We’re going to have to change the locks and put bars on the windows! But I thought about it for a minute and I thought, Here’s a role I could look back on and say, Man, I played a vampire. In, like, Twilight. I mean, how many people get to do that?”

Kellan Lutz and Rami Malek Ask Fans to “Get on the Float”

Thanks to our Elite Affiliate Twi Lexicon for the tip! Source Via @twilightlexicon.

The other day Kellan Lutz Tweeted a photo of him, Rami Malek (Benjamin) and Casey LeBow (Kate) spending the day building houses for the St. Bernard Project. The St. Bernard Project has nothing to do with lovable dogs, rather it’s all about building homes in post-Katrina Louisiana. They routinely partner with other well-known organizations such as Americorps and the United Way.

According to their press release this is what the “Get on the Float” initiative is all about:

Get on the Float — Help SBP rebuild 20 families homes and raise $ 350,000 this Mardi Gras Season. Carnival season is New Orleans’ biggest time of year. Hundreds of thousands of travelers from around the globe descend upon the Crescent City for the celebration that is Mardi Gras.

While most travelers storm the French Quarter, the real celebration is happening with in families and homes across the city. Additionally, this time of year is steeped in tradition. The parades, the costumes, the masks, the krewes…it’s all been around for generations.

“For the residents of New Orleans, Mardi Gras is not about beer and beads. It’s about tradition and family. I am truly blessed to be able to enjoy both this year,” says recently returned SBP homeowner Tina Meshell. Lifetime New Orleanian and SBP employee Whitney Craig says, “Even if you haven’t seen your family in awhile, you still know where they’ll be for Mardi Gras.”

But since Hurricane Katrina, 10,000-20,000 caretakers of these celebratory traditions haven’t been where they are supposed to be for Mardi Gras. For 5 years, they haven’t been able to participate in the festivities that are so crucial to their New Orleans identity.

As all of these New Orleans homeowners know, one of the biggest honors of Mardi Gras is riding on the float for the parades. This year, in tribute to this tradition, St. Bernard Project invites you to Get on the Float this Mardi Gras season and help these families still in need.

There are 2 easy ways to Get on the Float: Volunteer or Donate. In the following two months, SBP plans to get enough people “on our float” to return 20 families home and raise $350,000.

All supporters who Get on the Float this Mardi Gras season will be placed on our website. Additionally, we will have a make shift float in our offices where each float member will have their name displayed, so anyone who walks in our door can see your support for SBP.

So, who are you going to ride with this Mardi Gras season? Get on the Float with SBP and DONATE or VOLUNTEER to help deserving New Orleans families return home.
