Daemon’s Movies chats with Tinsel Korey about Twilight and her upcoming work in Fishing Naked with Bronson Pelletier.Pictured is Tinsel going through the effects make-up process.

At Comic-Con people camped our for two days to be at the panel for ‘Twilight’. Has the level of intense fandom had an effect on you and your career?

Tinsel Korey: Obviously it opens doors, in a way, having something big like that, absolutely. I don’t know if the level of work has gone further. I already had a career that was sort of building before ‘Twilight’. So it definitely gave it a little bit of a bump, but I was already going in that direction anyways and so it just sort of kept that steady pace of work for me.

In terms of interacting with people who recognize you, has that changed?

Tinsel Korey: I actually don’t get recognized. Last night, it was so funny, I was walking with Booboo and everyone recognized Boo Boo [Stewart], but because have of my face is covered with a massive scar and for the first two films I had bangs I look very different without that whole entire thing. Also, it’s like I’m dressed down in the movie, like, buttoned up plaid shirts and stuff like that. So, I actually don’t get recognized as much as the other guys because I have half my face covered with a massive scar.

That can be a blessing, right, so that you can live a normal life without getting mobbed wherever you go?

Tinsel Korey: Yeah, totally. Obviously, I like it. I’m more than happy to sign for fans and take pictures with fans as well, but it’s kind of nice having that anonymity and do which is what I do as an actor which is people watch. So, if everyone was watching me I definitely wouldn’t be able to delve into my craft as much as I can now where I can observe people and do what I do as an artist.

Kiowa Gordon who portrays Jacob Black’s best friend “Embry Call” in the Twilight Saga films and Tinsel Korey, who portrays “Emily”, the maternal figure to the wolfpack and Bella’s pal, will be the featured guests for this years annual Quileute Days celebrations.

This will be Gordon’s first visit to La Push, but Korey spent a week with the tribe before filming began on Eclipse in 2009. She gave acting classes at the tribal school and joined a storytelling with Chris Morganroth III on First Beach. In a statement, Korey shared, “I’m really excited to go back to Quileute and see the kids again!” The festival which celebrates Quileute culture, will kick off Friday with the Quileute Royalty pageant and stick games. The weekend events will feature a parade Saturday at noon, a traditional Salmon Bake, the time-honored stick-games,adult and youth softball tournaments, canoe racing, poker, bingo, and a wolf pack look-a-like contest. A Native nation dance idol contest will be judged by Tinsel, Kiowa and grammy award winning native artist Star Nayea on Saturday evening. There is a family street dance Friday and Saturday nights. E-tribe, a Christian rap group is performing on Saturday. Additionally, there will be a grand fireworks display, and “Twilight” themed events happening throughout the weekend. A raffle for a “Twilight themed basket will be available for $1.00. The annual Quileute Days festival is a wonderful opportunity for “Twilight” fans and Native culture enthusiasts alike to get an exclusive glimpse into traditional Quileute tribal traditions and customs. Tinsel and Kiowa will be signing autographs on Saturday at the Quileute Tribal office from 2:30-4pm on Saturday. The cost of the autograph is $20.00 for each actor and you have the choice of the following. You can select from their official Twilight Saga:Eclipse head shot, you may take a photo with your personal camera or you may purchase a Quileute days t-shirt to have autographed. Eclipse DVD’s will be available for purchase for $75.00 autographed by both Tinsel and Kiowa. “Quileute Nation Chairwoman Bonita Cleveland has announced that Native American Twilight film stars Kiowa Gordon and Tinsel Korey will be joining the Quileute Tribe for their upcoming Quileute Days Celebration set for Friday, July 15 through Sunday, July 17 at LaPush. A full schedule of events is to be released soon.”

Tinsel has visited LaPush before, this will be Kiowa’s first time in the area.

Ology just caught up with Tinsel Korey and talked about her Breaking Dawn and Twilight Saga experiences and her music career.

“For you Twihards, actress Tinsel Korey is Emily Young, the werewolf leader’s scarred fiancé or “wolf girl” as Bella calls her in The Twilight Saga. But, what you probably don’t know is that she’s a super talented singer/songwriter too. That’s right. She acts. She sings. She’s gorgeous. And she can probably make you laugh in less than two seconds. Someone that chill must be inherently pretentious and self-involved. Nope. Tinsel’s about as down to earth and charming as they come. And I got to chat with her. Be jealous.

We talked about her single, “Letter” (get it here!), what she likes to do for fun and of course, Breaking Dawn.”
