“It was important for me to go to a normal high school. I have a locker, which was a big deal. My mom had to buy me a lock and teach me how to use it. It’s the little things: Where do you go at lunch? How do you open the locker? I wanted a yearbook! Now I have a lot of signatures in my yearbook—‘Have a good summer’ and all that.”

Simplicity wins out in this symphony of thinly veiled erogenous cues that is also a literal depiction of the Runaways' hit song "Cherry Bomb." The sparks, the cherry and the drip could have appeared alone with the film's title and still been an effective teaser. The poster boils the concept of a Runaways biopic into a concoction that's about as simple as they come, and as far as blunt messages go, this one wields a mighty large club.

Kristen Stewart embraces characters like magnets attract iron filings. Her newest incarnation is as legendary rocker Joan Jett in The Runaways. She spoke to Tony Earnshaw.

She writes music. She likes movies by Stanley Kubrick and John Cassavetes. She yearns for a past she's never experienced. And she's just 20 years old.

"She", of course, is Kristen Stewart and, courtesy of the Twilight movies and heroine Bella Swan, she's arguably the hottest female star on the planet.

It's easy and too simplistic to cast Stewart as sullen, stand-offish and unsmiling. Perhaps the truth behind her oft-reported reluctance to conform to film star stereotypes is that she's fundamentally shy. Yet she has been thrust into a harsh spotlight that she neither anticipated nor welcomed. Not an easy arrangement for a global superstar.

Yet Stewart is not your average screen popsy. If she's rebellious, it's in a low-key manner. Yet she was the actress picked to play Joan Jett, the original American rock chick, in a new biopic of ground-breaking all-girl '70s' band The Runaways.

The actress told how there were strict rules in place when she performed her on-screen kiss with the teenage star, but their intimate moment felt “natural”.

Kristen – who rose to fame in the ‘Twilight’ franchise - said: “Well, she was 15, and I wasn’t allowed to grope her. I’m not kidding. There are major restrictions.

“But it’s very innocent in the movie, just a kiss. Of course, everyone’s talking about it like it’s a huge deal but it was so natural and impulsive.

“And it’s like five seconds in the movie.”

Celebrating the UK release of The Runaways, E1 Entertainment are supporting a special fan led screening of the movie.

Floria Sigismondi’s critically acclaimed biopic - starring Twilight’s Kristen Stewart as legendary, Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as front-woman, Cherie Currie – shows the rise and fall of the first ever all-girl rock band.

Taking place on Friday September 10th 2011, in London (location to be confirmed) will host the event for 150 lucky fans.

In honour of the band's era, prizes will be awarded for 1970's costume – other branded donations to be confirmed. Official and signed merchandise as well as customized Runaways Chucks from Canvas Warrior will be raffled off with all proceeds donated to UK charity for runaways, Missing People.

The Runways–for which Twilight Saga: Eclipse star Kristen Stewart cut her hair prior to filming Eclipse, much to the dismay of the studio and the resulting wig in Eclipse–has been released a full week early on iTunes.

I’m not sure if it’s a slip-up or not, but you can now buy it for $14.99 on iTunes a full week before its official July 20th release date.

The Runaways dvd coverKristen Stewart plays legendary rocker Joan Jett in The Runaways, alongside Twilight co-star Dakota Fanning as Cherie Curie. Overall it received mildy favorable reviews, with a 70% rating from Rotten Tomatoes. Roger Moore from the Orlando Sentinel praises it–
