Harry Potter Exhibition Coming to Sydney

Thanks to our Elite Affiliate RobertPattinsonAustralia for this update for Harry Potter and Rob fans in Sydney,
According to RPAustralia:
The Powerhouse Museum in Sydney will be holding the Harry Potter Exhibition from 19 November 2011 until 18 March 2012. Tickets go on sale next Tuesday 19 July 2011. Why am I posting this you ask? Well apart from the fact that you might get to actually see the Triwizard Cup and the Golden Egg (and Cedric I will always think of the prefect’s bathroom whenever the Golden Egg is mentioned *giggles*) - I have had confirmation that the dress robes worn by Cedric at the Yule Ball will definitely be included at the Sydney exhibition *squee*. Well it’s not Rob, but it close enough for now …

Summit Executives, Melissa Rosenberg, and Chris Weitz Give Credit To Harry Potter Films

Evening All,
Thanks to our Elite Affie Twilight Lexicon for the Tip! See more on USA Today
Erik Feig(a Summit Executive), Melissa Rosenberg (Twilight Saga screenwriter) and Chris Weitz (the director of The Golden Compass, New Moon and A Better Life) have cited the Harry Potter films as industry inspirations and changers. In the above photo, taken at the A Better Life premiere, Erik Feig is standing to Chris Weitz’s immediate left:
Erik Feig:
‘”There was a sea change with Harry Potter,” says Erik Feig, president of worldwide production at Summit Entertainment, which has made the Twilight movies. “The story has a younger protagonist, but the book series and the movies are greatly enjoyed by older people, too. I devoured the first book and gave it to every grown-up I knew. We saw the same thing with Twilight. We did not ghetto-ize it as a young-adult movie. Nor did they with Harry Potter. They drew all audiences. It was an inspiration to us.”
Chris Weitz:
“The impact of the Potter series has been tremendous in that it has essentially become the idea of a modern franchise,” says director Chris Weitz (Twilight: New Moon; The Golden Compass). “They latched onto something that has its own sequels built in. Now everyone is looking for a literary property that extends enough for them to keep on building.
“It’s led to this speculative bubble in mystical young-adult fiction. Twilight found its own way to hit upon the hunger for the supernatural and a particular time of life. But if you look at the bookshelves now, half of what is coming out in (young-adult) fiction is about a werewolf or a vampire or angels or demons. The other half is about magic and wizardry.”
Melissa Rosenberg:
“The Harry Potter filmmakers and screenwriter Steve Kloves really respected the fans,” says Melissa Rosenberg, who has written the screenplay for each Twilight movie. “When you’re adapting a book series and you have that kind of fan base, you really have to deliver. You can’t just use the books as a jumping-off basis for another story. When I see a Harry Potter movie, I forget what is missing. Because Kloves is taking me and those kids on the same emotional journey as the book does.”

Latest Records Indicate that Harry Potter Has Shattered the New Moon Record

Good Evening,
Thanks to our friends Elite Affilite at Twilight Lexicon for this!!
What a difference a few hours makes! After reporting earlier that New Moon would hold onto it’s record of midnight release sales, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 roared in with a last minute surge! Fandango has just issued the following press release:
“Tonight’s the night, as millions of moviegoers will band together to bid a fond, final farewell to the beloved characters of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.”
Fandango has sold more midnight and early morning show tickets for “Part 2″‘ than it has for the late night openings of any other movie (including “The Dark Knight” and “New Moon”).
More than 6,000 of tonight’s midnight shows are sold out in advance on Fandango, and theater owners are scrambling to post additional showtimes (many at 3:00 a.m.). “Part 2″ currently represents 93% of today’s total ticket sales.
Fandango’s “Harry Potter” experts will be available in New York and Los Angeles for live commentary outside the theaters, where film fans are likely to dress up for the magical occasion. According to a Fandango survey of more than 1,000 moviegoers, more than 8% of midnight show ticket-buyers will arrive at the theater in special “Potter” regalia.
“‘Part 2”s midnight show ticket sales have been nothing short of extraordinary,” says Fandango Executive Vice President and General Manager Rick Butler. “In the more than ten years that I’ve been with the company, I’ve never seen so many late night showtimes for a single movie sold out in advance. Thankfully, theater owners are adding new showtimes throughout the night to meet the fan demand.”

Edward & Bella V. Hermione & Ron — Which Significant Kiss Are You More Excited To See?

Share Your Thoughts (0)

Tweet This | Share on FaceBook

We have two very exciting smooches coming up in both ‘Breaking Dawn’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2′ when Edward and Bella first kiss as husband and wife and when besties Hermione and Ron lock lips for the first time — which is more exciting?

You know that feeling you get when you’re watching a movie and the two main characters are inching forward towards their first kiss and you get butterflies in anticipation of how — hopefully — exciting their chemistry will be? Well that feeling is on steroids when you’ve been waiting for that kiss for months, or even years, ahead of the movie since you’ve already read the books! Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and Bella Swan’s (Kristen Stewart) first kiss as husband and wife will be epic when Breaking Dawn: Part 1 airs in November. Just as legendary? When Hermione Granger (Emma Watson) and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) have their very first kiss in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 which hits theaters on July 15!

Bella and Edward have endured a lot in their relationship, and we can’t wait to see them married. Their first kiss after they say “I do” is definitely monumental, but it’s up to you to decide whether or not it should be more or less anticipated than Hermione and Ron’s first kiss. The Harry Potter pair have been best friends, along with Harry, ever since they first came to Hogwarts. That first kiss could (and does) change everything!

Laurent: This vampire isn't like the Cullen gang—he loves feasting on blood. Teaming up with Victoria and James, Laurent (Edi Gathegi) kills a few people in Forks before leaving because he doesn't want to go against the Cullens. Later he returns to Victoria's side, begins spying on Bella and almost kills her.

Bellatrix Lestrange: Helena Bonham Carter completely losses herself in this sadistic witch. Bellatrix is Voldemort's most devoted follower and has no problem killing anyone who gets her master's way. She was sent to Azkaban after torturing Neville Longbottom's parents, but escapes and returns to Voldemort's side with a vengeance.

Eclipse Eclipsed Harry Potter—and Four Other Shockers From the Year in Movies!

Hey Everyone!!
Greetings from Pakistan :)
I hope you all are having a great time and enjoying the festivities :))
Thanks to our elite affiliate Gossip_Dance for this tip!
via @Gossip_Dance via EOnline

Toy Story 3 ruled. Alice in Wonderland made a bundle. This, you know.

Here's what you don't about the box-office year that was:

1. Twilight Beat Harry Potter! For the First Time! Ever! Yes, the franchises have released films in the same year only one other time. Yes, Deathly Hallows Part 1 only opened last month. And, yes, the Potter people are making their usual pile of money overseas—Deathly Hallow's worldwide gross is already at $825 million, per Box Office Mojo, compared to $693 million for Eclipse.

But, domestically speaking, Eclipse set a new franchise record, while Deathly Hallows could wind up as "only" the third-, fourth- or fifth-biggest film in the Potter series.

2. Katherine Heigl Is Underrated! Remember when the actress detonated "her first bomb?" Or when her "image problem" threatened her latest romantic comedy? Well, two funny things happened: Both of Heigl's 2010 movies made good. The $75 million Killers grossed $93 million worldwide, while Life As We Know It, the real success story, took in nearly the same—off a $35 million budget.

3. The No. 2 Movie of the Year Got Snubbed! Per the box-office site The Numbers, James Cameron's Avatar (the pre-rerelease version) grossed more money in 2010 than any film save Toy Story 3. But where will you find it in the year-end rankings? Nowhere!

Because Avatar was released in 2009, its ticket sales go down on that side of the ledger, and it goes down as that year's No. 1 movie. Note we never said Avatar got totally snubbed.

4. Human Beings Are Not Funny! Adam Sandler's Grown Ups and Jackass 3D were the only live-action comedies to crack $100 million. (Robert Downey Jr.'s Due Date, still plugging away, may join them.)

In contrast, one of every four Top 20 hit was a CGI laugher thanks to the success of Toy Story 3, Despicable Me, Shrek Forever After, Megamind and Tangled.

5. Movies Still Bomb! Remember how over the summer we learned to never count out anything—why, even The Sorcerer's Apprentice wound up making back its gargantuan budget, with a $215 million worldwide gross?

And now, in looking over the year-end stats, we learn something else: chiefly, moviegoers in the United Arab Emirates cannot save all. Some flicks, no matter how many countries or theaters they play in, cannot make money.

Jonah Hex ($47 million budget; $11 million worldwide gross), The Warrior's Way ($42 million budget; $8 million worldwide gross), and The Nutcracker in 3D ($90 million budget; $234,928 worldwide gross), we're looking at you.

The astounding Nutcracker in 3D stats, by the by, are per the trusty Box Office Mojo (as are the others). So you know, we did put a call into the film's distributor to see if we were missing something. Like a digit.

Here's a look at the year's top-grossing films through Wednesday, per domestic stats compiled by Box Office Mojo:

Toy Story 3, $415 million
Alice in Wonderland, $334.2 million
Iron Man 2, $312.1 million
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, $300.5 million
Inception, $292.5 million
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, $267.8 million
Despicable Me, $250.6 million
Shrek Forever After, $238.4 million
How to Train Your Dragon, $217.6 million
The Karate Kid, $176.6 million

2. Robert Pattinson
We would be remiss if RPattz didn't make it on our list, and—prepare your rotten veggies—I'll be the first to admit that I definitely think he ismuch hotter as Cedric Diggory than he is as Edward Cullen. Plus he has one of the top five most heartbreaking deaths in "Harry Potter" history, which earns him a top spot on this list. His death scene made me cry more than Sirius Black's, and that's saying something.
