‘TWILIGHT’ MOVIES BRING ATTENTION TO VOLVO

Share Your Thoughts (0)

Tweet This | Share on FaceBook

Twilight really bring attention to any merchandise associated as TwilightersAnonymous posted. Check it out! (via @Twilighterz) Chicago Business has a great article about the attention that Volvo has received thanks to Twilight and Edward Cullen. Of interest also is the fact that so far the Twilight model is selling better than the one used in New Moon. Read more below: James Bond has inspired sales of Aston Martins and BMWs with his super-cool onscreen wheels. Now a vampire who drives a Volvo is getting the attention of young drivers.

Since the release of “Twilight” in 2008, teens and young adults have been drawn to the Volvo C30, driven by the character Edward Cullen.

“All these teenagers were going crazy about the C30,” says Carmelo Scalzo, general manager of Volvo of Oak Park. “After the movie launched, we saw this spike in C30 sales. We didn’t know what had happened until we put two and two together.”

Mr. Scalzo helped market the newer XC60, featured in the series’ second film, “New Moon” (2009), after Volvo caught on and tied the car to the movie through advertisements and guerrilla marketing.

The XC60, at $32,995, has not seen the same spike in sales as the C30, at $24,600, Mr. Scalzo says.

But for some, just seeing one is enough.

“I have people coming in with their kids who are taking pictures with the cars,” say Pat Hubert, general manager of Fields Volvo in Highland Park. “These are younger kids, probably 12 or 13 years old. Their parents say they’ll come back when they’re older.”

SUCCESS OF ‘TWILIGHT’ FILMS LEADS TO BOOM IN SALES OF FANTASY NOVELS

Check our UK Telegraph article as posted on TwilightersAnonymous. Happy reading. (via @Twilighterz) In a cool little article today from the Telegraph, they examine the effect that the success of the Twilight Saga film franchise has had on the book world - and particularly the fantasy genre. They look at how the films have not only increased the sales of sci-fi books quite a bit, but they’ve also encouraged the younger generation to get back into reading. Check it all out below: The 2008 film Twilight, which was released on DVD in Britain last April, was based on the series of vampire romance novels of the same name by the American author Stephenie Meyer.

It was followed by the release of the second film in the Twilight Saga, New Moon, in November, with a graphic novel due out in March.

Researchers at Mintel found that almost one in three older children and teenagers enjoy sci-fi/fantasy books, up from 18 per cent in 2005. Overall, over one in ten readers go on to read a title after seeing the film or TV version.

Other writers whose sales have increased on the back of the popularity of Twilight include Neil Gaiman, an English fantasy writer whose work includes The Sandman graphic novel. His novel Stardust was turned into a film starring Robert De Niro, Claire Daines and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Pat Neviani- Aston, Senior Leisure Analyst at Mintel, said: “The popularity of Twilight fiction shows just how closely books, TV and film are linked. Different media feed off each other and – while books provide the inspiration for many or most films – overall book sales also benefit greatly from the relationship, even if few achieve the levels reached by the Harry Potter series.

KRISTEN STEWART TALKS ‘ECLIPSE’ AND ‘THE RUNAWAYS’

Share Your Thoughts (0)

More of Kristen at Sundance. TwilightersAnonymous posted this interview of HitFix with Kristen as she spoke about Eclipse and The Runaways. (via @Twilighterz) Kristen Stewart did quite the round of press today as she geared up for the premiere of The Runaways tonight at the Sundance Film Festival. HitFix has a great interview with Kristen where she gives us some insight on Eclipse director David Slade and the pressure she felt in portraying Joan Jett. Read more below: “Bella’s effect on the world wasn’t necessarily as great as Joan’s, obviously, and I never got to meet Bella,” Stewart said. “It’s completely different. All these people who have an investments in these women, that’s awesome…but when it becomes personal and it’s my responsibility to not destroy, like, what people are going to take from the most important part of my friend’s life… Joan has become really, a really big part. She’s awesome and I really love her. If we hadn’t told the story right, people don’t know the Runaways in our generation. Because they’re going to see them through us, it’s a much different experience than making an original fictional story.”

Speaking of Bella, even though she hasn’t seen “Eclipse,” the third installment of “Twilight” yet, Stewart gives high marks to director David Slade’s style on the film, which will come out this summer. “He’s a very technical director. Very. Very. He’s very thoughtful. I think it’s going to be cool for ‘Twilight,’ like, shotwise. He’s very conceptual. He really, really takes a lot of time to…you’re not going to see, like, a bunch of Steadicam. It’s very deliberate, which is very cool. It gives you more time to think about what you’re doing. I don’t know [the tone] because I haven’t seen the movie.”

Via Twilighters Anonymous

Track Gals TV has a brand new interview with our very own Twilight Sagafilm star Kellan Lutz. In the new interview, Kellan talks about the phenomenon that is Twilight and how he’ll look back on this experience in 10 years, how passionate the fans are (and how some have some odd requests…), and more. Check it all out below:

I don’t know why, but I laughed at the fact that Kellan didn’t want to sign the baby, but was more than willing to bite it - LOL. Kellan’s always a great sport and I think we’re very lucky to have him in the films. What did you think of this interview?

Daniel sounds like such a nice guy. I love that once he started reading the Twilight Saga books he really got into them and couldn’t stop reading. It’s also funny what initially drew him to the part was just the “job”.

‘NEW MOON’ STAR PETER FACINELLI HEADS HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Peter Facinelli talks about his plan for Xmas and also what you can expect from Eclipse!!! As posted on TwilightersAnonymous. Check it out! -Liana- (via @twilightersanonymous)

iVillage Entertainment had the opportunity to speak with Twilight Saga Peter Facinelli recently where he expressed just how much he looks forward to being home for the holidays and spending time with his family. Also in the new interview, Peter discusses his role as Carlisle Cullen and how he took keys from his own life and implemented them into his role, what his daughters think of the saga, what we can expect from Eclipse, and more.
Have you had any crazy fan requests?
Yeah, you get the, “Can you bite me?” a lot. Once in awhile I’ll bite them on the wrist for a picture. It’s fun, you know. The whole series is fun to be a part of. It’s great that they’re so excited about these movies. It would be worse if they were throwing tomatoes at us, you know what I mean?

Did you draw on your own fatherhood experience for your role as Carlisle Cullen?
Whenever you take on a role there are things you connect with and things you have to research, and for me, being a patriarch of a family came naturally. I have a family of my own and so I understood what it was like. So it was more about working on who Carlisle was as a person and where his travels have taken him and how to get 350 years onto the screen.

Did you take on a father-figure role with your younger castmates?
I think in the first movie I was more fatherly towards them, because when you meet up with the other actors you kind of see them as their characters and they take on traits of their characters. So everyone kind of fell into who they are in the family, and my role was the patriarch. But as they got to know me more, I became more like the older brother kind of figure.

Fearnet: What 'New Moon' Means For Hollywood

Share Your Thoughts (0)

Tweet This | Share on FaceBook

Hi Twilighters, TwilightersAnonymous posted this article from FearNet. Check it out! -Liana- (via @TwilightersAnonymous)
Jen Yamato from Fearnet has a great article that looks at what exactly the hugely successful numbers for New Moon could mean for Hollywood, and the ways movies are made and sold. Check out more below:

Female audiences demand to be catered to.
Twilight was always a female-oriented property, thanks to a high quotient of moony eyes, forbidden love, and romantic longing courtesy of author Stephenie Meyer. And studio execs perked up when the fantasy book-turned-indie film raked in over $69M its opening weekend, making back its budget by double. But as evidenced by worldwide masses of screaming fans, a sprawling fansite community, and its blockbuster box office performance, New Moon is no accidental success – women will buy tickets, they will go multiple times to the movies, and they will bring their friends/daughters/mothers. And they’ll even go to horror-themed movies – that is, if the movie gives them what they want. (See below.)
Summit is now a studio model.
From the start, Summit Entertainment did the best job it could have done to spin itself a mega franchise out of an otherwise unnoticeable vampire love story. Now, it’s a major player with a diverse upcoming slate that includes another Robert Pattinson vehicle and a smattering of rom-coms and family flicks. While Summit may not make a smash hit out of every film (their 2008 horror pic Sorority Row was a modest financial success, but barely) they will use the enormous profits fromNew Moon to build the studio and finance its expansion, moving from a tiny studio that specialized in obscure genre pics (remember P2?) to a mainstream distributor with the power to slot a vampire movie next to a sci-fi actioner (Knowing) and a potential Oscar picture (The Hurt Locker).
And how’d they do it? The New Moon campaign benefited as much from the public’s obsession with its “are they or aren’t they?” on-screen couple (AKA Robsten) as it did from the deliberate releases of new clips and photos from the film, which became events in themselves. Summit also took note of and worked with the fansitecommunity, rewarding their footwork with all-important access and ensuring that their built-in audience stayed interested.
Fangirls are a force to be reckoned with.
Fandom has long been the territory of males, so it’s refreshing to see a self-contained community of Twilight fangirls growing steadily. They devour Twilight trivia, publish meticulous blogs on every aspect of the franchise and its stars’ lives, and have hundreds of thousands of followers on Twitter. And some of them, too, still live with their parents. (The difference being fangirls also have real jobs and take showers. Zing!) Twilight fangirls are just as powerful and just as nerdy as fanboys – and maybe now studios and the fanboycommunity can finally take them seriously.

PETER FACINELLI IS A ‘TWILIGHT’ DOCTOR IN DEMAND

Share Your Thoughts (0)

Tweet This | Share on FaceBook

Ever wonder if your GP looked like Peter Facinelli? Check this article out from TwilightersAnonymous. -Liana- (via @TwilightersAnonymous)

The LA Times has a great new interview with Twilight Saga star Peter Facinelli where he talks about his Twilight journey from beginning to present. In the new interview, Peter talks about how a ‘vampire movie’ didn’t appeal to him until he read the books, why he chose to join Twitter (and why he continues to tweet), how he’s handling the hysteria, and more.
When his agents approached him about taking the role in a “vampire movie,” Facinelli was hesitant.
“I was like, ‘Um, no,’ ” Facinelli recalled. “I was proud of my roles up to that point. I was thinking a gory, B slasher movie. You know, vampires in caves who turn into bats. It just wasn’t my cup of tea. But I read the first book and I couldn’t put it down. If I could have made myself a vampire, I would have. That’s how much I wanted the role.”
Luckily, no skin was punctured in his casting for the part. Now two films into the saga, Facinelli has seen his life — and career — go into overdrive.
“I’m a lot busier,” Facinelli said. “I’m traveling a lot more. And I’m meeting a lot more people. I’ve been acting for 15 years so I’ve sort of always had a fan base. But this is a whole other level of fans. They’re die-hard.”
In between his “medical” commitments — aside from playing bloodsucking Dr. Cullen in the “Twilight” saga, he plays a human doctor on Showtime’s “Nurse Jackie” — Facinelli is communicating with those fans. He can usually be spotted finger-deep on his iPhone, blasting tweets to his million-plus followers on a daily — if not, hourly — basis.
“It’s my way of having control over what people know about me,” Facinelli said.
It’s a savvy attempt to combat the hysteria. While his young “Twilight” costars grapple with the media whirlwind attached to the vampire saga’s success, a slightly older Facinelli has a different outlook.
“It is easier for me to deal with now,” he said. “I can’t compare to Rob [Pattinson] and Kristen [Stewart] because I’m not with them on a day-to-day basis..."
